Luka Doncic's new Lakers chapter proves he's happier in LA than he ever was in Dallas

Since the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic, the Mavs suffered over a period of injuries and PR nightmares. It's clear Doncic wanted to stay with Dallas by the emotion he showed from his reunion video in Dallas. After helping to crush the Mavs in their home gym, it was clear that the Los Angeles Lakers were thriving as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference before they got exposed by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers' depth really started to break down, and they paid the price.

Doncic is used to trash-talking to back up his game, but he decided to take the best revenge shot possible at Nico Harrison by transforming into the body that he was lacking as a Maverick. This is clearly Doncic answering to the fire that Nico Harrison started, and it's easy to see that he's happier as a Laker than a Maverick.

Of course, Mavs fans will always appreciate Doncic; we know that based on the warm reception he got every time he scored to eventually torch the Mavs with 45 points. The truth is out and clear as day. Doncic is as happy as he's been at least in the last year, even after Harrison blindsided him out of nowhere.

Doncic looks like he's in the right place mentally in Los Angeles

Doncic has also used TV time to take slight shots at Harrison and Patrick Dumont. New York Yankees play-by-play man Michael Kay jokingly asked Doncic if he was going to mail them a copy of the Men's Health Magazine that he was on the cover of, and Doncic replied in the most hilarious way possible.

"They probably saw it," Doncic said. "I don't have to worry about that."

This was one of the few times we ever heard Doncic take a shot at the Mavs organization, even if it was a joke, and he's never really addressed Harrison directly. We've heard reports about how Doncic threw his phone across the room in disgrace of the Mavs trading him away, but in any other press conference, he's been positive toward the Mavs' faithful while steering far away from talking about Harrison and Dumont.

Honestly, why would Doncic want to be in Dallas again after Dumont alluded to him not being a hard worker? Not only was the claim inaccurate, but it was salt in the wounds of Mavs fans who saw Doncic play every single time. Doncic was as close as he ever was to becoming an MVP in 2024, all while leading in major categories during the playoffs.

Since taking over Los Angeles with LeBron James, Doncic and James have formed a bond that only could've been a dream for both superstars. While James' time is running out, Doncic will soon be the king of the Lakers, just like he was in Dallas. If his transformation stays consistent, Doncic's first full season with the Lakers might be enough to tear up the rest of the league.

Dallas will always miss Doncic, but it looks like the Slovenian is happier in Los Angeles than he was in a Dallas uniform, thanks to a toxic organization.
