Following a roller coaster ride for the Dallas Mavericks over the past few months, the basketball world is starting to turn in the right direction from the controversial Luka Doncic trade. Nico Harrison was seemingly adamant that the trade was made when Luka Doncic wasn't committed to his conditioning (among other reasons), which wasn't enough for fans at all, considering he went to the NBA Finals the year prior.

The breakup of Doncic happened without warning, and it didn't take long for Patrick Dumont to throw salt in the wound of Mavs fans by slamming Doncic for not being a winner. Doncic made five All-NBA First Team honors at 25 years old. He also led the NBA Playoffs in all major categories and won the scoring title back in 2024, perhaps his best season yet. Following all the criticism that came his way, Doncic took matters into his own hands to make Dumont look foolish, and now looks as fit as he's been in his NBA career.

Doncic has probably been waiting for this moment to dunk on Harrison and Dumont. One of the biggest stars in the NBA was cheated by an organization that gave up on him. He's transformed his body to show Harrison what he's missing out on, and Dumont will end up paying the price, too.

Luka Doncic's transformation knocks Dumont's words into oblivion

Dumont called the Mavericks a team that needs to be on track to win championships. They just didn't include Doncic in his future plans. After Dumont called out some of the greatest players of all-time for being winners, he left out Doncic and Dirk Nowitzki, the anchor responsible for bringing Dallas their first and only championship. This angered Mavs fans for forgetting about Doncic, and it landed Dumont in the gulag with Mavs fans.

There were plenty of Mavs fans who are still understandably upset with Harrison, but they have to remember that Dumont basically put the nail in the coffin to shun Doncic. Doncic's transformation is probably the most predictable event ever, as Doncic has always been the one to defy the odds since his rookie season, when it seemed like every crazy shot would go in.

Just like a lot of quiet stars in sports, Doncic mostly likes to move in silence off the court. That might change once he steps on the court, but after taking a jab at the Mavericks organization on the New York Yankees broadcast, his feeling about the Mavs organization shows that Harrison and Dumont are now second thoughts in his head. He is all in on being a Laker, and he has moved on.

Nothing is guaranteed in sports, and the Doncic trade proved that, but this was eventually going to set a fire underneath Doncic to perform at an even more elite level. Doncic has been vying for his first MVP award as well as an NBA title, and now with a full offseason of conditioning under his belt, it looks like the demon is about to be unleashed.

Even though Anthony Davis and Max Christie haven't disappointed in a Mavs uniform, the worst part of the gift was shipping Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers to join LeBron James and Austin Reaves. When Reaves wasn't even included in the trade, this proved complete malpractice on Harrison's part, as they didn't get enough of a return. Now, he's about to pay for Doncic's new transformation.
