Even though it happened almost two months ago, the Dallas Mavericks trading Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis is still the talk of the town. Mavericks fans are still devastated that Nico Harrison gave up on Doncic before he hit his prime, and ever since the trade, things have not gone smoothly in Dallas.

While the Mavs have recently gotten back on track as they have won four of their last five games, the transition phase from the trade until now has not been easy. Davis missed multiple weeks with an adductor strain that he suffered in his Mavs debut, and Kyrie Irving also tore his ACL.

The team struggled to stay above water without Davis on the floor, but ever since he came back, they've been hard to beat. The Mavericks haven't lost a game in which Davis plays in yet this season, and while the anger from the Doncic trade is still fresh in Mavericks fans' minds, they are finally beginning to embrace Davis more as the team is pushing hard for the playoffs with less than 10 games remaining in the regular season.

Davis seems to be loving Dallas, as he pushed hard to return from this adductor injury despite the risk that came along with it, and as long as Davis is healthy, he wants to play. Him being out for the entire season after only playing in his Mavs debut would have been a nightmare scenario, and fans are elated that he is back on the floor.

Davis doubts the secrecy of blockbuster trade that brought him to Dallas

Being the new guy in town, especially since he was traded for Doncic, is something that hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows for Davis, as he hasn't gotten the full respect he deserves in Dallas. Davis understands the magnitude of the move that brought him to Dallas, as he understands how much Doncic meant to the city, but there is also still one part about the trade that he can't get behind.

In an exclusive interview with Marc J. Spears, Davis answered several questions about life in Dallas and the trade in general, and he didn't hold back when briefly bringing up the narrative that no one outside of those working the deal knew about this trade before it happened.

"Obviously, the first maybe 48 hours, it was just a shock because I wasn’t expecting it," Davis said. "Nobody was expecting it, so they say. But I know from my side, my team and my family and everybody who works with me, I wasn’t expecting it."

The word on the streets is that the only people who knew about the trade before it went down were Rob Pelinka, Nico Harrison, and the two ownership groups from the team, and it sounds like Davis is definitely skeptical that this may not be the case. He has made multiple comments alluding to him not believing this narrative since the trade went down, and it's hard not to blame him.

We've never seen a trade of this magnitude in the NBA, and the fact that it didn't get leaked is unbelievable. Harrison and Pelinka kept the circle small when it comes to those who knew about the trade, and while this was a vital aspect of the negotiations to get the move to go through, it doesn't seem like Davis is rocking with it.

Davis is embracing life in Dallas more and more by the day as he is searching hard to find a home in the city, and all signs are pointing to the Mavericks being a play-in team once the season ends next month. He'll have the chance to lead Dallas to a playoff berth if all goes according to plan, and we'll have you covered with all the latest.
