Dallas Mavericks nominate Kristaps Porzingis and Dwight Powell for 2020 NBA Community Assist Award
Dallas Mavericks big men Kristaps Porzingis and Dwight Powell have a lot in common. Both produced their best numbers playing at the five and proved to be outstanding roll man this season. Each had a season-ending injury too. Powell tore his Achilles in January, and Porzingis suffered a torn meniscus during the playoffs.
Both players should return on the opening night of next season. The date of that is still fluid, so stay tuned for updates.
The similarities are not just on the court. Both men are stellar teammates that are committed to helping others. Powell and Porzingis do a ton of charity work. That allowed both men to be nominated for a prestigious honor. Let us take a closer look.

The team announced on Wednesday that it nominated both players for the honor. Powell was one of ten finalists last season, but the winner was Bradley Beal. The 29-year-old is often the Mavs leader in the community. He plays a key role in the NBA Players Association and is always giving back.
Porzingis held a campaign to stop childhood hunger in North Texas. The 7’3 big man donated $500 for every blocked shot this season. KP did not stop there, though. He ultimately raised $104,000 through the campaign. That is just one of the many ways the former All-Star gave back this season.
The NBA will announce the finalists and winner of the 2020 NBA Community Assist Award at a later date. Both Mavericks have an outstanding shot at earning the top honors. There are many other worthy candidates around the league, though.
