Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic snubbed in Most Improved Player voting

The Dallas Mavericks were eliminated from the Orlando bubble with their defeat on Sunday afternoon. They arrived back in Dallas today. Luka Doncic and the Mavs pushed the Clippers to six games, but could not pull the upset without Kristaps Porzingis.

There was still one loose end for the Mavericks to tie up this season. On Aug. 8, Luka was named as one of three finalists for the Most Improved Player award. Brandon Ingram and Bam Adebayo joined him. Doncic took the biggest and most difficult leap in basketball this season. Fans can read the case for him taking home the Most Improved Player award here.

The NBA announced the winner on Monday. Let us take a closer look at the voting totals.

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic finishes 3rd in Most Improved Player voting

Brandon Ingram won the award with Bam Adebayo finishing second and Luka Doncic third. Fans can check out the NBA’s official press release here.

Luka took the biggest leap in points scored and win shares this season. He became a bonafide superstar and proved it again in the playoffs. The Most Improved Player is always a difficult award to choose the winner. It is not who is the best player, but who took the largest leap. The media determined Ingram’s was bigger than Doncic’s.

It will be interesting to see how many votes Luka garnered for MVP in the coming weeks. Fans can read my case for him being on every ballot here. The Mavericks superstar was not named as one of the three finalists, though. Expect him to be in the conversation next season.

The future is bright in Dallas. Luka Doncic and the Mavericks will keep improving. It is a fantastic time to be a fan, so please stay tuned with us.
