Dallas Mavericks: 5 reasons why Luka Doncic should win Most Improved Player

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic should win Most Improved Player this year
The Dallas Mavericks have exceeded expectations this season. Most experts pegged them as a fringe playoff team coming in. The Mavs nearly had a spot locked up when the NBA suspended play back in March. That was thanks in large part to Luka Doncic. The 21-year-old went from Rookie of the Year to superstar seemingly overnight.
Second-year players are not supposed to be that good. Doncic continues to get anywhere on the floor he wants and lead the Mavericks tremendous offense.
In his 59 games played so far, Luka is averaging 29.1 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game. Just incredible numbers for any player much less a 21-year-old.

Why Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic deserves to win Most Improved Player
The NBA announced the finalists for all their awards on Aug. 8. Doncic was joined by Bam Adebayo and Brandon Ingram as the three players still in the running for Most Improved Player. Each was an All-Star for the first time in 2020 and took a massive leap in production. The winner will be announced on TNT during the restart.

Luka does not think he should take home the award. See his exchange with Brad Townsend after the finalists were announced on Saturday below.
