Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic struggled along with the team as they were blowout by the Phoenix Suns on Jan. 28. Here is a look at the game.

The Dallas Mavericks returned home to face the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. It was the second of a back-to-back for Dallas. They defeated the Thunder in Oklahoma City behind 29 points from Luka Doncic on Monday.

The home game did not go according to plan, though. The Mavs really never found their footing. They were outscored 32-19 in the first quarter and could never get back it in. The Suns went on to win 133-104 in Dallas.

Only three players scored in double-figures for the Mavericks. Doncic led the way with 21. Jalen Brunson and J.J. Barea each had 15 points and shot well in limited minutes. It was an ugly night for the Mavs overall, though.

Luka gave fans something to cheer about in the first quarter. He used his crossover to shake a defender and hit a step back three.

It was the first night to forget for the Mavericks in 2020. They were blown out and never had even grabbed a lead on Tuesday. They have kept it close in their losses. Mavericks fans should let this one go. It was not their night. Facing the second of a back-to-back is never easy, so the team will just forget it move forward.

The Dallas Mavericks return to action on Friday in Houston against the Rockets. It is another back-to-back set for Dallas. They return home to face the Hawks on Saturday. The Mavs and Rockets are neck and neck in the standings, so that will be an important game. Expect Luka Doncic to have the Mavericks firing on all cylinders come Jan. 31.
