Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic drops 35 in loss to Thunder
By Tyler Watts
Continues to make a statement
The Thunder stepped up their defense on Luka Doncic, but it did not matter. The 20-year-old star continued scoring at will. He stuffed the stat sheet again too. He finished with 35 points, ten rebounds, seven assists, and one steal in his 40 minutes of action.
Doncic struggled shooting from beyond the arch. He made just three of his 16 3-point attempts. Some of them were late-clock bailout shots. Luka did drill this one late in the fourth quarter, though.
It was another incredible performance despite the team faltering down the stretch. Doncic had an effortless 35 points. Not many players in the NBA can make that claim.
His highlight of the night took place in the fourth quarter on a play that did not result in a stat for Luka. The 20-year-old ran a pick-and-roll with Maxi Kleber at the top of the key. He launched a pass between Steven Adams’ legs to Kleber who quickly found Dorian Finney-Smith before a swing to Seth Curry resulted in a 3-pointer. Fans can see that play again here.

The Mavs had two poor quarters and Doncic took a rest in both. They need Kristaps Porzingis or Tim Hardaway Jr. to handle some of the scoring load. Hopefully, neither player misses much time.
