Blazing start

Luka Doncic jumped out of the blocks fast on Tuesday night. He got to the rim and scored just over one minute into the game for the Mavericks’ first points. Fans can relive that opening basket below.

That was the start of a strong first quarter for both Luka and the Dallas Mavericks. In the end, he had 17 points, two assists, two rebounds, and one steal after playing all 12 minutes. Doncic narrowly missed having 19. He sank a bucket at the rim as time expired in the quarter. It was originally ruled good but changed on replay as Luka released it just a fraction of a second too late.

Here is a look at the highlights from his incredible 17-point first quarter against the Thunder.

The Mavericks held a 32 to 20 lead at the end of one as well. Doncic was scoring from all over the court and look ready to lead his team to a blowout victory. He had two 3-pointers made and five free throws made in the first 12 minutes.

Oklahoma City needed to do a better job of keeping the 20-year-old star in check. They made adjustments that worked after his strong start. The Thunder slowed down the rest of the team, which ultimately propelled them to victory.
