Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic produced the 5th best play of last season

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic hit an unthinkable buzzer beater against the Blazers. It was named the fifth-best play of the 2018-2019 season.

Dallas Mavericks fans will look back on the 2018-2019 season with fondness. The team did not make the playoffs, but it will be remembered as the rookie year of Luka Doncic.

Doncic started on opening night and immediately announced his presence. By game two, he was the team’s leading scorer. It was clear that Luka was the player the Mavericks needed to build the team around. He produced a season for the ages including winning Rookie of the Year.

Luka Doncic also provided fans with a plethora of highlight plays. His combination of scoring, passing, and playmaking ability have quickly made him one of the must-watch players in the league.

The NBA is counting down the best plays of last season. Doncic’s buzzer beater against the Portland Trail Blazers from Dec. 23, 2018 checked in as the fifth best.

That shot was so improbable. There was 0.6 seconds remaining on the clock. For Luka to hit a three in that fashion to tie the game was incredible. It was a play that immediately took fans out of their seat. Dallas lost the game in overtime, but Doncic putting them in an extra period was still unbelievable.

Mavericks fans are ready for the 2019-2020 season to begin. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are both already back in Dallas and working on their games to prepare. Training camp begins on Oct. 1. There is less than a month until the NBA season is officially back.

The Mavs made a few exciting additions this offseason. They will be pushing for the playoffs in what appears to be a crowded race in the Western Conference. Even if Dallas falls short of that goal, they should be a blast to watch. Doncic and Porzingis are two of the best highlight makers in the NBA.
