Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell shared his thoughts on his impending free agency including dispelling a recent rumor. See the latest here.
The Dallas Mavericks are lucky to have Dwight Powell on their roster. The 27-year-old is coming off the best season of his career. Powell’s rim-rocking dunks make fans rocket out of their seats, but it is so much more than his on-court talent.
He is one of the most active Mavs in the community. Powell is always donating his time to a charity event or doing community service. He participated two days in a row this week. Powell helped paint the gym walls at an after school program for children on Monday. Then, he was on-hand for the tech center opening on June 4. Here is a tweet from the Mavericks official account about the event.
Powell on his future
The media was present for the opening and they got a chance to ask Powell about his impending free agency. First, the center addressed the Yahoo Sports report that he was declining his player option courtesy of Brad Townsend.
Then, Powell reiterated his stance on where he wants to play next season courtesy of Eddie Sefko.
That quote should come as no surprise. Dwight Powell is continuing to do charity work in Dallas. He also traveled with Coach Carlisle and Coach Mosley to Slovenia to work out with Luka Doncic. Adding it all up and it would be a shock if Powell departs in free agency this summer. Expect him to have plenty of suitors, but re-signing with the Mavericks appears to be his priority.
