Dallas Mavericks legend Jason Terry has agreed to join the BIG3 for their upcoming season and fans should be excited about his return to the court.

Dallas Mavericks fans are looking for any basketball to cure their itch by late June. The Mavs season will be over for two months after missing out on the playoffs for the third consecutive year. That is when the BIG3 gets going, though.

The BIG3 is a unique brand of basketball. It features a host of former NBA players in the 3-on-3 competition. The league also has four-point shots available at different places on the court. The game ends when one team scores 50 points or more, but they must lead by at least two. It is a stellar cure for the fans craving basketball at that point.

The Jet joins the league

Mavericks fans just got some massive news that should make them want to tune in this season. Jason Terry will be playing at the start of their new year. Here is the Tweet from the official account of the BIG3.

Must Read. 3 things that matter for the remainder of the season

Terry is a Dallas Mavericks legend. He played eight seasons in Dallas. The Jet was the sixth man on Mavs 2011 NBA Championship team. He also won the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2009.

Terry played 619 games with the Mavericks. He averaged 16.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.8 3-pointers made, and 1.2 steals per game. During that time, The Jet shot 46.2 percent from the field, 38.8 percent on his threes, and 84.7 percent from the foul line.

Terry is 41 years old, but played in the NBA last season with the Milwaukee Bucks. That gave him 19 years in the league.

He figures to be a standout in the BIG3. The Jet’s shooting ability should allow him to lead the league in 4-pointers (Three players tied for the top mark with four last season). Mavs fans can expect a few crossovers and plenty of highlight reel plays as well. The Jet will be one of the most exciting players in the league this season.

Jason Terry will be the player captain of the Trilogy team. The BIG3’s draft for the remaining players takes place in April. The season will kick off in late June. The entire league plays in one city each week. They took over the American Airlines Center in Dallas for Week 9 last year. No word yet on if they are planning to return to Texas or not.

Final thoughts

Former Dallas Mavericks standout Jason Terry is joining the BIG3 for the 2019 season. The Jet was hoping for an NBA job, but he could not secure a contract for his 20th season.

The sky is the limit for Terry in the BIG3, though. He could legitimately be the league MVP in his first season. Ricky Davis led the league in scoring last year with 137 points over the ten week season. The Jet’s scoring in the NBA is arguably better than Davis’ numbers. Expect a massive impact from Terry.
