Dallas Mavericks legend Jason Terry is retired from the NBA unless one of three teams want to sign him. Find out who could secure the veteran here.

The Dallas Mavericks won the 2011 NBA Championship, and Jason Terry was a massive part of that run. The Jet was the sixth man who averaged 15.8 points, 4.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in 31.3 minutes a night during their title season.

It was one of eight years that Terry spent playing with the Mavericks. He was a fan favorite and brought Mavs fans plenty of memorable moments.

The Jet played the last two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, but the 41-year-old has yet to sign for the 2018-2019 season. Will he play this year? Here is what Terry had to say during the Mavs telecast on Dec. 8 courtesy of Tim MacMahon.

Terry has stated on plenty of occasions that he would like to retire as a Maverick. He was an unbelievable scorer during his prime, but those days have passed. The Jet would be playing a small role as a shooter off the bench at this point in his career.

The Mavs have one of the best benches in the NBA, but adding Terry would bring in a positive locker room presence and capable shooter. The fit would be improved if Devin Harris or J.J. Barea went down with an injury (Please, do not let that happen). The Mavericks are unlikely to make the signing, but it would be fantastic to have The Jet finish his career in Dallas.

Final thoughts

Jason Terry said the Dallas Mavericks are one of three teams he would end his retirement to play for this season. The Lakers and the Warriors are the other two.

That goes to show fans that Dallas has a special place in The Jet’s heart. He has a chance to win a title signing with Golden State or playing alongside LeBron in Los Angeles. The Mavs are still at least a few years away from competing for the title, but they would provide him a chance to retire with the team that secured him his only ring.

The Dallas Mavericks likely eventually retire Jason Terry’s number because of his contributions to the team. It will be interesting to see if The Jet returns this season or if he stays retired. The Smoking Cuban wishes him the best with whatever decision he decides to make.
