Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is ready for another stellar performance as they look to break their five-game losing streak on Feb. 27.

The Dallas Mavericks return home to face the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday evening. The Mavs are in the midst of a five-game losing streak including four by double-digits. It is going to take a star performance from Luka Doncic to break them out of their funk.

Luka did his best to make it happen in the Mavericks last game. He had a triple-double against the Clippers, but his nine turnovers sunk the effort. Doncic is on fire in the month of February. He is averaging 24.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 7.4 assists over eight games played.

Struggled in Indiana

The Mavs played the Pacers on Jan 19, and Luka had one of his worst games of the year. He was three of 14 from the field including missing all five of his 3-pointers in route to an eight-point performance. Doncic also had five rebounds and six assists. It was his last single-digit scoring performance and one of only five all season.

Luka only played 24 minutes that night as well. He was ejected in the third quarter for punting the ball into the stands. Needless to say, the Mavs lost the game.

Plenty has changed since that night, though. The Mavericks made two trades, and three starters from that game are members of another team now. The Pacers also lost All-Star Victor Oladipo to a season-ending injury.

The Mavs lineup shuffle now has the ball in Luka’s hands more than any other player in the NBA. That should lead to a massive statistical performance out of Doncic. Can Indiana keep pace? They lack offensive firepower with Oladipo out meaning a Luka triple-double could go a long way to securing a win for Dallas.

Final thoughts

Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic is looking to break their five-game losing streak with a gigantic performance against the Indiana Pacers on Feb. 27.

Luka’s turnovers are the stat to watch this evening. In the Mavs last five losses, he averages five turnovers per game. In five wins that number drops to three a night. Doncic taking care of the ball is imperative this evening.

Luka Doncic is the key for the Mavericks the rest of the way. He needs to take another step toward superstar status for so many reasons. The most important may be to attract another All-Star free agent to come to Dallas this summer. It will be a fantastic close to the season, so stay tuned.
