Dallas Mavericks rookie sensation Luka Doncic is already an All-Star player according to Golden State Warriors Coach Steve Kerr.
The Dallas Mavericks are looking to have their first All-Star since Dirk Nowitzki in 2015. Going into the year, fans thought the team had little hope of fielding a representative, but rookie Luka Doncic has taken the NBA by storm.
Doncic is a more than deserving candidate. He is averaging 20.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.5 3-pointers made, and 1.1 steals per game in 32.0 minutes a night. Luka also has the narrative on his side as the 19-year-old rookie who many experts doubted during draft season.
The Mavericks matched up against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, Jan. 13. The defending champions won the game 119-114. They also shared plenty of comments on Luka Doncic. Let us take a look at two.
Kerr continues to praise Luka
Warriors Coach Steve Kerr is no stranger to NBA basketball. He played in the league for 15 years including winning five rings. Four with the Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls and one with the Spurs in the twilight for his career.
Kerr is now the head coach for Golden State. In his five seasons, the Warriors have won three championships and played in four NBA finals. Kerr knows a lot of basketball.
Here is what the coach had to say about Luka Doncic leading up to Sunday’s game courtesy of Dwain Price.
Steve Kerr on Luka's All-Star chances: " Whether he makes it or not, he’s an All-Star. Certain guys just stand out. You see what they do, you see what they mean to the game. If he doesn’t make it this year, he’s going to make it soon enough.” @dallasmavs @luka7doncic

That is music to Mavs fans ears. Doncic is going to be an All-Star and has the potential to blossom into a top-five player in the league. The rookie needs to continue to expand his game to reach that level, though.
Curry gives Doncic some advice
Warriors point guard Stephen Curry may be the best player in the NBA. He is a two-time MVP. Curry continues to produce unprecedented stats. He is sinking 5.2 3-pointers per game this season while averaging 29.4 points. Curry had a message for Luka Doncic and fans can see it here courtesy of Nick Friedell.
Steph shared a few nice moments with Luka Doncic after the game. His message to the rookie was simple: "I said, 'I don't have to tell you anything. Just keep doing what you're doing."

That is an amazing level of respect from a two-time MVP to a rookie. Fans know it already, but Doncic is on the path to superstardom. All-Stars from all over the NBA continue to sing his praises, and Mavs fans should feel lucky that Luka is on their team.
Final thoughts
Warriors Coach Steve Kerr believes Dallas Mavericks point forward Luka Doncic is already an All-Star. Dallas fans are salivating about the current and future with Doncic running the show. The team should only improve as the Mavs build around the Slovenian.
