The Dallas Mavericks are going to be without their GOAT Dirk Nowitzki for at least two more weeks and so much more in today’s news.
The Dallas Mavericks did not have their best day on Oct. 12. It started at shootaround with the news that legend Dirk Nowitzki is still weeks away from playing.
Dirk is sidelined by an ankle injury. He was scrimmaging shorty before training camp began, but he had a setback that has kept him from participating in practice at all this preseason. The injury is looking significant at this point.
Coach Carlisle discussed the injury on Friday as the Mavs prepared to take on the Charlotte Hornets. Here is a quote of what Carlisle said courtesy of Eddie Sefko.
“It’s going to be multiple weeks, I can tell you that. But there’s no soft or hard date. He’s doing better, but has not done any significant court work. We can update you in another 10 days or so.” — Rick Carlisle on Dirk Nowitzki. Added that no further procedures are needed.

If that was not bad enough, the Mavs dropped their final preseason game against the Hornets 123-118, and Maxi Kleber injured his back during the contest. No word yet on the extent of the injury to Kleber.
Something to smile about
The Mavericks starting five had a fantastic game on Oct. 12. The return of DeAndre Jordan did wonders for the group and they were producing highlights faster than NBA Twitter could roll them out. Plenty more on that to come, but the Luka Doncic, Dennis Smith Jr. and Jordan grouping could be special this season.
