The Dallas Mavericks are gearing up for the regular season, and there are plenty of interesting topics of discussion for fans to enjoy.

The Dallas Mavericks completed their two-game trip to China.  They have one more preseason game before the regular season begins on Oct. 17.  Naturally, that means plenty of Mavs topics to discuss.

Rookie Luka Doncic is at the center of the conversation right now.  The 19-year-old is creating a ton of excitement with his impressive play this preseason.  Doncic is the real deal and fans are speculating how far up he helps the Mavericks climb in the standings.

The improvements of second-year point guard Dennis Smith Jr. stands as talking point number two for fans.  DSJ averaged 15 points and five assists per game last season but was inefficient in doing so.  Can he improve his shooting and take a massive leap in year two?  Early returns look positive.

The injuries to leading-scorer Harrison Barnes and legend Dirk Nowitzki have Mavs fans in a bit of a panic.  The regular season kicks off in a week and neither man is practicing yet.   Updates should be coming soon, but it looks unlikely either is ready for the opener on Oct. 17.
