After a few Dallas Mavericks hopefuls recorded no minutes in the preseason game against the 76ers today, it was announced that Dallas would be making some roster changes.

A few minor roster change have been made by the Dallas Mavericks today, choosing to swap out a few of the guys that were likely going to miss the roster anyways for some fresh bodies. It is time to say goodbye to Codi Miller-McIntyre and Jalen Jones.

Miller-McIntyre leaves the Mavs as quietly as he got there. After limited chances to prove his worth in the league, the Mavs parted ways with the youngster formerly from Wake Forest. After two seasons of overseas ball, Miller-McIntyre tried to make his move to the NBA, but it appears his efforts will fall short this year. At only 24, he may have more opportunities going forward.

Jalen Jones has had an interesting journey with the Mavericks. After being signed to a two-way contract near the end of last season, Dallas decided not to bring him back. Then, an injury to a different signee caused an open roster spot for the Mavs and Jalen Jones was right back. It was pretty clear from the start, however, that this was temporary.

Both Miller-McIntyre and Jones sat out the most recent preseason game in China and will come back to the US as free agents. Rather than making early cuts, the Mavs used this time to bring in some new players so that they could keep their starters out of the final preseason game.

One of the new guys, Donte Ingram, was actually on an Exhibit 10 contract with the Mavs earlier in the summer. Dallas must be intrigued by him because they signed him to a non-guaranteed deal yesterday. He will likely not be with the team at any point during the regular season, but may spend some time with the Legends.

The other player the Mavs picked up is Rashad Vaughn. Vaughn has played in the league already, playing his first two full seasons with Milwaukee where he played in over 110 games. Last year, however he bounced around from Milwaukee to Brooklyn to Orlando, never finding a good home.

Vaughn is a former first round draft pick from 2015, but he never fully hit his expectations. Coach Carlisle will try to draw out some more of Vaughn’s natural ability as a basketball player.

These moves will likely make no impact on the final roster, but I always appreciate the Mavs searching for any diamond in the rough. After all, that is exactly how we landed Yogi Ferrell. The Mavs will need to trim their roster down over the next week leading up to the start of the NBA season.
