The Dallas Mavericks added a new starting center in DeAndre Jordan this offseason and media day gave fans the first chance to see him a Mavs uniform.

Dallas Mavericks fans finally saw a sight they had waited at least three years to witness on Sept. 21.  New signing DeAndre Jordan wore his Mavs uniform for the first time.

The photos of Jordan in his new gear are a long time coming.  He is from Texas.  The Mavericks had an agreement with him to sign in 2015 before Jordan backed out and returned to the LA Clippers.

Three years later fans finally have their wish.  Jordan will wear number six this season.  He will be the starting center and should play over 30 minutes a game.

What to expect

Fans will fall in love with DeAndre Jordan because he will do three things Dallas has lacked in recent seasons.  The seven-footer will rebound the ball at one of the best rates in the NBA, play solid defense by protecting the rim, and set screens and be the team’s primary roll man on the offensive end.  The Mavs missed the playoff two straight seasons while lacking in all three of those areas.

Jordan should also bring the Mavericks a new facet.  The team has not had a dominant big man since Tyson Chandler departed for the second time in 2015.

Coach Carlisle loves a skilled center in his system, so adding Jordan should be a fantastic signing.  Keep an eye on DeAndre Jordan this season because he could be one of the primary factors in a Mavs turnaround.

Final thoughts

DeAndre Jordan donned his Dallas Mavericks uniform for the first time at media day on Sept. 21.  Fans finally have the confirmation that Jordan is going to be the team’s starting center this season.

Media day has come and gone meaning the new season is officially underway.  The Mavs have their first official practice on Sept. 22 and face the Beijing Ducks in their first preseason game on Sept. 29.  The team opens the regular season in Phoenix against the Suns on Oct. 17.  Fans should be plenty excited for the Mavericks season because Dallas’ additions should at minimum make this a fun team to watch all season long.  Stay tuned.
