Rumors are swirling around that the Memphis Grizzlies are gauging interest in packaging a deal of Chandler Parsons and the No. 4 pick in next week’s draft. While it’s not clear what the Grizzlies want in return, it’s still fun thinking about the possibilities. Here are three options the Mavericks could offer for getting the No. 4 pick.

Dallas gets: Chandler Parsons, No. 4 pick

Memphis gets: No. 33 pick, Wesley Matthews, 2019 first-round pick (top-5 protected)

If Memphis is just looking to move down in the draft, and get the $49.2 million owed to Parsons off the books, then giving them the No. 33 pick could suffice if they’re not intrigued with anyone at the top of the draft. Adding Matthews to the deal could benefit the Grizzlies as a stable 3-and-D guy. Although giving up first-round picks is always hard, giving Memphis next year’s first-rounder wouldn’t sting as much if it meant picking back-to-back this year for Dallas.

Memphis gets: Wesley Matthews, Dwight Powell, 2019 first round pick

Maybe Memphis doesn’t want the 33rd pick, but instead Dwight Powell, who at 26 years old has improved from year-to-year in his time with the Mavericks. This can also pave the way for a potential Mohamed Bamba drafting for the Mavericks with Powell no longer on the team. Powell can serve as a backup for Marc Gasol, and Matthews can provide three-point shooting help to a team that ranked 25th in three-point percentage last season.

Dallas gets: Chandler Parsons, No. 4 pick

Memphis gets: Harrison Barnes, 2019 first round pick ( top-5 protected)

I know what you’re thinking, trading a productive small forward for an often-injured small forward would be idiotic for Dallas. But if the Mavericks could nab Luka Doncic with the No. 4 pick, he could fill in at the forward position. Not to mention Dallas could then pick Mohamed Bamba with the 5th pick if he’s still available. Can you imagine a trio of Dennis Smith Jr., Doncic and Bamba? The Mavericks could potentially have three solid young pieces for years to come.

While Memphis will likely get more attracting offers than the Mavericks, anything can happen when it comes to the NBA Draft.
