Dallas looks to build off Wizards blowout as the Houston Rockets make their way to town.

Following the Mavericks route of the Wizards on Monday, Dallas will have their hands full against the Rockets tonight. Sitting at 33-12, Houston holds the second best record in the West and the league in its entirety.

Tonight marks the third consecutive game that Dennis Smith Jr. will go toe-to-toe with an All-Star caliber point guard in Chris Paul, starting with Damian Lillard on Saturday and John Wall on Monday. Coming off an All-Star snub because of his injury, expect Chris Paul to bring his “A” game tonight at the AAC.

The Rockets are currently on a three game win streak and winners of six of their last seven games, including impressive victories against the Heat, Warriors, and Timberwolves.

What to Watch For

For the Mavs to compete in this game, they must knock down the long ball. The Rockets make just under 16 three’s a game, while the Mavs make just under 12. If Dallas can hit from three while the Rockets struggle, we could have a game.

Facing off against Chris Paul and James Harden tonight, Dennis Smith Jr. must continue his hot streak. Over the last six games, DSJ is averaging 20 points and 4.8 assists while playing 33 minutes per game. The rook is definitely coming into his own and tonight will continue to be a good test for him.

Since the top of the new year, Wesley Matthews is averaging 16 points per game on 43% shooting from three. For the Mavs to be successful, Wes knocking down the three ball is of importance for Dallas.
