Jonathon Simmons

Last on our list today is none other than the San Antonio Spurs very own, Jonathon Simmons. Simmons is another Texas boy, although this time from down in the Houston area. Unlike the rest of the guys on the list, Jonathon Simmons has not had much time to make his name known in the league.

Simmons has, however, made his name against the Dallas Mavericks. During his two seasons with San Antonio, he really was able to display his incredible athleticism and natural skill set most notably in the playoffs but also during his matchups with the Mavs.

Now, already at the age of 27 after an interesting ride to the NBA, Simmons will be a restricted free agent and a lot of teams are interested. I believe the Mavericks should be one of them.

The Mavs would love a player like Simmons because of his amazing athleticism and the fact that he continues to get better. Anyone who was coached by Popovich is already going to be very coachable and Simmons is such an athlete that he can bring more fire to the already young and intense lineup of Dallas.

Simmons would like it in Dallas because he would have a chance to join the starting lineup along side Harrison Barnes at the 4. He would have an opportunity to show off his offensive skills while remaining a terror on the defensive end. This would be a good choice for him and his career but it would also be a bit of a betrayal to the Spurs.

This move would not work because the Spurs would probably match most offer sheets for Simmons. We could overpay for him, but considering it is only his 3rd season in the league, I imagine that is a bit too risky for the Mavs front office.

Whatever the case, the Dallas Mavericks have an opportunity to shop a lot of different positions this summer and I think one of those positions should be small forward. Who would you take in Dallas out of these 5 players?
