Mavericks Look to Extend Win Streak Against Lowly Nets
By Aaron Reed

The Dallas Mavericks look to add another win and push towards playoff contention against a struggling Brooklyn Nets team. A win for Dallas and a loss for Denver would bring the Mavs within half a game of the 8th seed.
Although the Dallas Mavericks would love to continue to celebrate Dirk Nowitzki‘s 30K points, they now must switch their minds to the task at hand. Coming off a 3 game win streak, the Mavericks get ready to face a lowly Nets team still looking for answers and hoping for a miracle.
This hasn’t been a model year for a franchise looking to turn things around. The Brooklyn Nets currently stand at 11-52, the worst record in the NBA. Coming from a loss on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks, the Nets are hoping to somehow finish the season on a high note. Unfortunately, it won’t be an easy task against a hot Mavs team, two upcoming dates with the Knicks, the Thunder and a scary Celtic squad.
The Dallas Mavericks are riding a wave of emotion, with momentum at their fingertips. They’ve accomplished recent wins against the Grizzlies, Thunder and Lakers. Dirk Nowitzki cemented his hall of fame glory of scoring 30,000 plus points in his career. And, ironically enough, the Dallas Mavericks actually have a chance to make the playoffs.
Don’t be fooled, though. This is still the NBA and the Mavericks are not taking these games lightly down the stretch. Their season has not been all roses. According to head coach Rick Carlisle, “I don’t know that we’re in a position to take anybody lightly with the way our season has gone.”
The excitement is building around the city, and the team knows it. The Mavericks literally sit 1.5 games behind the Denver Nuggets (29-35), who currently sit as the 8th seed in the Western Conference.
With the new additions and the improvement of team chemistry, it looks like the Mavericks are not talking “tank” anymore. They want to make a playoff push. They want that 8th seed, and they truly believe they can do it.
