With our latest podcast live on iTunes, we debate numerous topics surrounding Chandler Parsons, the playoff race, and if Steph Curry is overrated.

In Episode 16, we discussed in detail the Dallas Mavericks at the trade deadline and what we thought about the team standing pat. We also made our predictions for the Western Conference playoff seeding and touched on the addition of David Lee to the team.

This week, with the political primaries in full swing, we decided to debate different topics mostly surrounding the Dallas Mavericks, with the exception of Stephen Curry.

We first broke down the 4-2 home stand for the Mavs and how people should view the victories at home. Even though they were wins the Mavs were expected to get, were they still impressive? What exactly can we make from beating four teams with a combined record of 76-163? Just how bad was the loss to Sacramento on Thursday night?

As the podcast went on we turned our attention to the impact that David Lee has had on the team and our thoughts on Carlisle’s shortened rotation. Do you like the idea of Lee coming in and taking all the minutes away from Dwight Powell, Salah Mejri, and Charlie Villanueva? We debate our opinions surrounding the rotation.

In one of the bigger debates of the podcast, we all three go head-to-head on if the Mavs should max out Chandler Parsons over the summer. In particular to Parsons, we debate handing the max to Parsons or a younger Harrison Barnes. With Jay and Kohl taking Parsons no doubt, I present a small case of understanding for handing the money to Barnes instead.

After the Parsons debate (argument), we touched again on the Western Conference playoff picture and if the Mavs can reach the 5th spot in the West. Is Memphis or Portland their biggest threat to the 5th spot? Can the Mavs hold their ground with a tough schedule on deck for March?

As we talked about the playoffs and Warriors atop the West, we then moved into our league-wide discussion of the week…is Steph Curry overrated? Stemming from a text conversation over the last week, Kohl Rast and I go head-to-head debating if the MVP of the league is indeed overrated. I defend Curry’s greatness while Kohl takes the stance of proving how Curry is overrated.
