Chandler Parsons opens up on The Bill Simmons Channel 33 Podcast about Dirk, Rick Carlisle, and free agency.

With the season in full swing and the Mavericks making a final push towards the end, Parsons set down with  Juliet Litman and Chris Ryan to talk everything surrounding his life and the Mavs right now. Instead of me summing up the conversation, I decided to give some transcript to the conversation in what I found interesting.

Although I left some questions out, here is some dialogue from the conversation.

LITMAN: “What was it like hanging out and working with Dirk?”

PARSONS: “Its been great obviously. He’s an unbelievable guy here to have every day. For some reason I didn’t utilize him last year. Now I shoot with him every day after practice. After shoot around on game days we always do this competition shooting drill. He’s obviously one of the best shooters of all-time.”

LITMAN: “Do you remind him how old he is?”

PARSONS: “It’s crazy watching him walk around the weight room limping around and he’s had like 30 the night before. It doesn’t make sense to me, the guy is a freak….He’s definitely the hardest working guy I have ever been around. I still think he has 2 years left.”

LITMAN: “There have been stories about how you don’t agree with his (Carlisle) rotations and wanting to play in crunch time and whether those are true or not, do you have to go talk to him?”

PARSONS: “Yeah we have a great relationship. We spend a lot of time together outside the gym. Obviously we have butted heads on some things (laughter). I signed a max contract and the week later my new head coach is calling me fat and I have met the guy like one time (laughter).”

Parsons continues the conversation about Carlisle and talks about the type of person Carlisle is and so forth. But then he adds in…

“He’s an unbelievable coach. I respect him. I trust him and I like playing for him. I want to play for him a long time.”

LITMAN: “Would you ever want to go back to Houston?”

PARSONS: “I think the way it went down afterwards things were said and that was just the heat of free agency. I have nothing but respect for them. It was home for me for three years. I would definitely never count that option out.”

They go on to talk to Parsons about upcoming free agency and the appeal of Orlando. He discusses what family members live there and what a hometown means to someone like LeBron to Cleveland. He then adds this nugget at then end…

More from The Smoking Cuban

“Free agency is the last thing I am worried about right now. That would be selfish of me to think about that or talk about that when we are in the midst of doing something special right now.”

There were PLENTY of more talk that went on throughout the conversation, but this was just some stuff that I found interesting for Mavs fans and the rest of the NBA. Below is some one-liners from Parsons that I pulled out from the conversation for reading pleasure…

“I try to talk to his wife about his haircut or him wearing these ridiculous whitie-tightie underwear.”

“Dirk is the most sarcastic dude you will ever meet in your life”

“He (Dirk) does this thing where every shot I take, like a pull up three, he will scream “of course” in the middle of the game. Make or miss, up 20 or down 20.”

“I have him (Dirk) now wearing some Del Toro’s. He will rock them every now and then. Now I just got to tighten up his jeans so you can actually see the shoes.”

The following is the full conversation at the beginning of the podcast.

Lastly, for any Bachelor fans out there, he does talk about his fandom to the show and his friendship with Bachelor contestant Joelle Fletcher.
