The Dallas Mavericks lost a key piece when Tim Hardaway Jr. went down with a foot injury on Jan. 25. He needed to be helped off the floor, and the team announced that he suffered a broken fifth metatarsal on his left foot before their game against the Warriors concluded.

The Mavericks have not released a timetable, but Hardaway Jr. will miss an extended stretch. His return timeline will depend on the type of fracture and what method of treatment he pursues. THJ could miss the rest of the regular season, but fans will have to wait on a firm timetable.

Hardaway Jr. is motivated to get back on the floor. He shared a post on social media for fans on Jan. 27, and here is a closer look.

THJ is not letting the injury get him down. He took to Instagram to thank fans for their support and share his excitement to get back to playing basketball. See his post below.

This is not Hardaway’s first injury to his left leg. He had surgery to repair a stress fracture in that leg just after arriving in Dallas in 2019. THJ missed the final 11 games of the season and was healthy for training camp. He came back stronger and had a breakout 2019-2020 season.

Expect Tim Hardaway Jr. to attack his rehab and get back on the floor as soon as possible. The 29-year-old wants to help his teammates in the playoffs, so expect him to be working towards that goal every day. Hopefully, he makes a speedy recovery and is back on the hardwood doing what he loves soon.

Hardaway’s injury could force the Dallas Mavericks to trade for a wing. Fans can expect to see plenty of rumors as the Feb. 10 trade deadline approaches, so stay tuned to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest.
