The Texas Legends wrapped up their regular season with four games in the final week split between home and road, and they needed to win and get some help from other Western Conference teams to get into the playoffs. Here is a look at how the final week of the season went for the Dallas Mavericks G League affiliate.
Texas Legends outhustle the Memphis Hustle
The Legends had a pretty big crowd for their second to last home game of the season, and it was a huge factor as it helped Texas to a 121-112 victory over the Memphis Hustle.
Olin Carter led the Legends in scoring with 31 points followed by Justin Jackson with 25. Ahmad Caver was the top points scorer for the Hustle with 32 followed by Damien Jefferson netting 14.
Carlik Jones was also a factor in the Legends' win as he was flying around the court on offense and defense. He even got a dunk in transition.
The Legends showed that they have that postseason mentality ready, but they needed to keep winning to qualify for the G League playoffs.
Birmingham Squadron nuke Texas Legends by 30
The Texas Legends played their next to last road game in Birmingham, but things didn't go according to plan. The Birmingham Squadron all but chased them off the court in a 127-97 rout.
Zach Hankins led the Squadron with 21 points, while Daulton Hommes finished with 16. The Legends got 24 points from Anthony Mathis as Justin Jackson finished right behind with 23.
Birmingham dominated the Legends from the beginning of the game, and Texas just couldn't keep up. However, a day after this game the Legends were able to clinch a spot in the G League Playoffs.
Late surge lifts Texas Legends to final road win of season
The Legends traveled to Salt Lake City to take on the Stars in their final road game of the season as they searched for an important win to continue their momentum into the playoffs.
The Stars were eliminated from playoff contention, but they had nothing to lose as they hung with the Legends for a majority of the game until a fourth-quarter surge lifted Texas to a 103-91 victory.
Carlik Jones led the Legends with 22 points as Moses Wright and Justin Jackson chipped in 18 apiece. Carsen Edwards had 19 points to top the Stars.
Jones was like a conductor for an "offense symphony" on the court. He was finding wide open teammates left and right.
This was a huge win for the Legends with the playoffs approaching, but they had one final regular-season game to worry about against the rival Austin Spurs.
Justin Jackson dominates to lift Texas Legends to win in regular season finale
If that was Justin Jackson’s last home game at the Comerica Center, he rewarded the fans with a grand finale as helped the Legends close out the regular season with a 106-99 win over the Austin Spurs.
Justin Jackson was basically on fire the entire game as he scored 39 points as Moses Wright chipped in 25.
Justin Jackson got going with a couple of layups before getting the crowd to their feet with his dunking ability. The 6'8 forward was literally unguardable as the Spurs coach would have no answer for him in the first half of the game.
The Austin Spurs would attempt to come back in the fourth quarter, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Legends would close out the regular season with a win. What a great way to end the season by beating your biggest rival.
The Texas Legends missed out on a home playoff game as the Birmingham Squadron won on Saturday night. The Legends face the Squadron on April 5 in the opening round of the G League playoffs. The game starts at 7 p.m. CT and will most likely be streamed on the Texas Legends Facebook page.
