The Dallas Mavericks are searching for upgrades as the Feb. 10 trade deadline approaches, which has led to a host of rumors pouring out. Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith are being targeted by opposing teams as the Mavs will need to exceed the luxury tax to re-sign both players when they hit free agency in the summer.
Dallas wants to win now, so they will be looking to improve their roster at the deadline. They have been liked to Jerami Grant and others that will help them on both ends of the floor. The Mavericks are committed to playing better defense and improving their perimeter options could be massive in the playoffs.
Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer dropped the latest rumors on Jan. 27, and he linked the Mavericks as one of four teams showing interest in Cavaliers wing Cedi Osman. Here is a look at the latest and what he would bring to Dallas.
Rumors: Dallas Mavericks interested in Cedi Osman
Fischer notes that there is a lack of two-way wings available on the trade market. Osman’s minutes have decreased this season as the Cavaliers have improved. He is still averaging 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 steal in 22.8 minutes per game over 37 contests. Osman is a career 34.9 percent 3-point shooter, and the 6’7 wing is a steady defender that offers versatility.
Fischer scribes the Spurs, Hornets, and Bucks have also shown interest in the Cavaliers’ wing.
Tim Hardaway Jr. suffered a broken foot on Jan. 25 against the Golden State, which leaves a hole in the Mavericks lineup on the wing. They will be searching for a replacement on the trade market. Ideally, their addition would be able to space the floor, handle the ball, and play stout defense. Cedi Osman checks some of the boxes and would give the Mavericks versatility and flexibility with their playoff lineups.
