3. Kyrie Irving

When the Dallas Mavericks traded for Kyrie Irving in the middle of the 2022-23 season, there was tons of uncertainty about the type of player he would be for the Mavs. Dallas got him for cheap as they landed him for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, and draft capital, and this trade turned into one of the best trades in team history.

Although the trade didn't seem to work right away, Irving and the Mavs flourished in his second season with the team. Dallas made the NBA Finals, and his chemistry with Luka Doncic helped the Mavs soar through the playoffs.

Irving and Doncic are now one of the best duos in the NBA, and Irving's play in Dallas helped turn his career around. He is constantly praised by other stars in the league, and this season is going to be a make-or-break year for him as he could become a free agent if he decides to opt out of his contract.

With Irving being on a potentially expiring contract, his trade value isn't as high as it would be if he were on a long-term contract. Irving is still one of the best point guards in the NBA, and his value to the Mavs stretches beyond the hardwood.

He is known as one of the leaders on the team, and he'll be key in Dallas' performance in the 2024-25 season. If he can replicate how he played last season while staying healthy, the Mavs could be well on their way to another appearance in the NBA Finals.
