4. P.J. Washington

At the time of the 2024 NBA trade deadline, the Dallas Mavericks had plenty of uncertainties. It was clear that they wanted to add frontcourt depth, and they were linked to P.J. Washington of the Charlotte Hornets.

Dallas made a trade for him on the day of the trade deadline, and he quickly became a huge difference-maker for the Mavs. Washington turned into the starting power forward for the Mavs in place of Grant Williams, and he and Daniel Gafford helped turn the Mavs' defense around.

Dallas had the No. 1 defense down the stretch, and Washington has as much trade value as almost anyone on the roster. Last season, Washington averaged 12.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 32 percent from downtown.

Washington's 3-point shooting was a concern during the beginning of his tenure in Dallas, but he became a consistent shooter in the playoffs and even showed flashes that he could become the Mavs' third star in their series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Washington is just 25 years old, and any team in the league would benefit from having him on their roster. He is a big, versatile forward, and he is only making less than $30 million over the next two years.

That is a team-friendly deal, and his contributions on both ends of the floor combined with his versatility and youth make him one of Dallas' top assets. He is also a team-first player, and his presence provided a positive impact in the Mavericks' locker room.
