The Dallas Mavericks are 10-8 on the season and have the tenth best winning percentage in the NBA. They are also 21st in net rating and projected by FiveThirtyEight to finish with the 13th best record in the league. The Mavs have performed below expectations, despite sitting fourth in the Western Conference.

Superstar Luka Doncic missed three games with ankle and knee injuries, and Dallas went winless over the stretch. The Mavericks are a proven playoff team with the 22-year-old superstar healthy and should play better as the season wears on.

Monday brings another set of weekly power rankings, and the Mavs are all over the map heading into week seven. Here is a look at three different sets before taking a look at what is ahead this week.

Dallas Mavericks are all over the map in week 7 power rankings

ESPN moved the Mavs up to ninth in their weekly power rankings, despite Dallas winning just one of their three games. They were the only ones to have Dallas in the top ten with Hoops Habit placing them 12th, and they are 17th in The Athletic’s power rankings (subscription required). The Mavericks are a playoff team that must perform better moving forward.

Their schedule softens in the week ahead. Dallas faces the Cavaliers on Monday before a home-and-home against the Pelicans without Zion Williamson. The Mavs close the week on the second night of a back-to-back against the Grizzlies without Ja Morant. Dallas could easily go 4-0 this week and climb in the power rankings. They need Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis to continue their stellar play to make it a reality.

Fans have been frustrated by the Dallas Mavericks' start to the 2021-2022 season, but they sit fourth in the Western Conference and have still not played their best basketball. Expect the Mavs to only improve from here, and supporters will not want to miss it, so stay tuned.
