Mavericks vs Magic Prediction

At 12-3 over their last 15 games, the Mavericks are playing their best basketball of the season. Luka has snapped out of his early-season slump to average 25.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 9.3 assists while leading Dallas to the 2nd-best net rating in the NBA during that stretch.

Their calling card, however, has been their defense. They have the best defensive rating in the league over the last 15 games and are 5th on the season. That's bad news for a Magic squad that has the 3rd-worst offensive rating this year. With the offense starting to click and the defense remaining stout, the Mavericks present significant problems on both ends for Orlando.

The Magic are just 6-16 against the spread at home and I think this line is underrating Dallas' recent dominance. As long as the Mavericks don't lose focus against an inferior opponent, I like them to cover this spread rather easily.

Dallas just beat Portland by 20 and the Pacers by 27, two teams with better net ratings on the season than Orlando. I expect their roll to continue.

I'll take Dallas -5.5 (-110) as my best bet in this one as their recent form is just too strong to ignore.
