The Dallas Mavericks are locked in a Western Conference semifinal series against the Phoenix Suns, but that has not stopped the accolades from rolling in. Superstar Luka Doncic had 45 points in Game 1 to move him into a tie with Michael Jordan for highest scoring average in playoff history as he was also nominated for another award.
The NBA released the ten finalists for the NBA Cares Community Assist Award on May 3, and Doncic joins a star-studded list to take home the honors. Mavericks teammate Dwight Powell shared the honors in 2020 with Chris Paul, George Hill, and Harrison Barnes. He is the only Maverick to win the award since the league began handing it out in 2017.
Fans can vote for the winner via social media, and here is a look at why Luka deserves to take home the honors.
Why Dallas Mavericks fans should vote for Luka Doncic to win Community Assist Award
Luka loves giving back. He is often meeting with sick fans and trying to help them raise money for medical expenses. The 23-year-old superstar also refurbished courts in his childhood hometown in Slovenia to give back to the community. The Mavericks were quick to send out congratulations on Twitter and let fans know how to vote for Doncic to take home the honors.
Owner Mark Cuban even let supporters know what to do on Tuesday.
Luka Doncic should earn his third straight first-team All-NBA selection this year, and adding the NBA Cares Community Assist Award would be the icing on the cake. He is solely focused on helping the Dallas Mavericks win the championship, but fans can expect the honors to keep rolling in either way.
Be sure to vote for Luka. The balloting ends on May 14 at 10:59 p.m. CT. Supporters should keep voting for Doncic over the next ten days because he deserves the honor.
