The Dallas Mavericks have dominated the preseason thus far. They won their first three games, including the latest 68-point blowout victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Mavs stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis look ready for the regular season, which is less than a week away.
Dallas has one preseason contest left on its schedule as they travel to Milwaukee to face the Bucks on Oct. 15. The Mavericks used Wednesday’s win over Charlotte as their dress rehearsal, so they are taking a cautious approach to the finale.
The team announced on Thursday that they are resting Luka and KP in Milwaukee, but those are not the only two players. Dallas will also be without Tim Hardaway Jr. (rest), Reggie Bullock (personal), and Tyrell Terry (personal), according to the NBA's official injury report, but that should not stop fans from tuning in.
Mavericks to rest Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis in preseason finale
Doncic was outstanding in the first two preseason games and finished the three-game slate averaging 14.3 points, 7.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds in 19.7 minutes per game.
Porzingis was even more impressive during the exhibition slate as he averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 blocks in 19.3 minutes per game. KP also shot 58.3 percent from the field as he looked extremely comfortable in his new role under head coach Jason Kidd.
The Dallas Mavericks have seen enough from their star players in the preseason. They know they are ready for the regular-season opener on Oct. 21 in Atlanta against the Hawks.
Friday’s preseason finale will be one final chance to get a look at their full 20-man training camp squad as the Mavs decide who makes the team’s 15-man regular-season roster. Fans won’t want to miss the final auditions for players like Eugene Omoruyi and Frank Ntilikina as they attempt to earn the final spots on the team, so do not miss it.
