The Dallas Mavericks did not get their offense rolling until the fourth quarter against the Grizzlies on Saturday night as superstar Luka Doncic sat out with ankle soreness. It was a night Dallas would love to forget as they lost for the seventh time in nine games.

The Mavericks were back at practice on Monday night as they prepare to face the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 7. Head coach Jason Kidd said both Luka and Kristaps Porzingis practiced, but he did not update their statuses for the game. KP was confident he would return, but Doncic did not speak to reporters.

The Mavs listed the Unicorn as probable for Tuesday’s game, but Luka was questionable on the NBA’s official injury report with a thumb sprain added to his ankle soreness. The injuries are piling up for the 22-year-old superstar, but fans should expect him to do everything he can to play in the nationally televised showdown. What will Dallas do if he is ruled out?

The Mavs added Tim Hardaway Jr. to the injury report, and he stands questionable with a knee contusion. Stay tuned for updates on his status.

It appears Porzingis is on track to return, but Dallas will need Jalen Brunson to step up if Luka is out. JB had 15 points and eight assists against the Grizzlies on Saturday night, but he shot just seven of 21 from the field. They need more scoring and efficiency from Brunson if Doncic needs to miss Tuesday’s game.

Dorian Finney-Smith, Reggie Bullock, and Maxi Kleber will have to slow down Kevin Durant and James Harden as the Nets come to Dallas winners of six of their last eight games. The Dallas Mavericks need Luka Doncic if they are going to get back on track and defeat one of the best teams in the league, so stay tuned for updates on his status as they become available.
