Mavericks need Luka Doncic now more than ever

Dallas Mavericks need Luka Doncic back in lineup because they lack shot creation
The Mavs offense started slowly this season, but they were climbing back up the rankings before Luka’s injury. Over the last three games, their offensive rating of 102.4 sits 22nd in the NBA, and they are 24th in true shooting percentage.
The team’s lack of shot creation has been on full display in the three straight losses. Jalen Brunson is having a breakout fourth NBA season and should be in the running for Sixth Man of the Year. He can handle the ball and make plays, but his production has dipped in fourth quarters.
Even with his emergence, it is hard to win in the NBA with just two players that can consistently create shots. The Warriors currently have four players averaging over three assists per game, and Phoenix and Utah both have three.
Dallas needs one more player that can put the ball on the floor and create when healthy, and the issue becomes the roster's fatal flaw when Doncic is out of the lineup. The 22-year-old superstar is one of the league's best creators, so having him back will help Dallas return to an elite offense.
After losing three straight, the Dallas Mavericks are still just two games behind the Jazz for third in the Western Conference. If Luka Doncic can return soon, they have a massive opportunity to make a run that will be aided by the team’s second star.
