The Dallas Mavericks have split the last two games without Kristaps Porzingis. They defeated the San Antonio Spurs on their home floor on Thursday night before traveling to Denver where they were dominated by the Nuggets.

The Mavs need a healthy KP to be serious contenders in the Western Conference, but he is currently dealing with a back injury that he suffered in the team’s win over the Rockets on Oct. 26. Coach Jason Kidd offered an update before Friday’s game, and fans got another one heading into Sunday’s contest.

Porzingis was upgraded to questionable on the NBA’s official injury report for Sunday’s game. The Mavs will likely take their time in deciding on the Unicorn’s status and gauge it off how he feels before tipoff on Sunday afternoon.

Kristaps Porzingis questionable as Dallas Mavericks face Kings

The Mavs need the Unicorn’s scoring, rim protection, and floor spacing in the lineup. Tim Hardaway Jr. has struggled in the last two games with KP on the sidelines. Dallas needs both men in the lineup and hitting shots to be at their best.

The Kings are going to play fast on Sunday afternoon. They defeated the Mavericks in all three meetings last season, including twice at the American Airlines Center. What counters will new head coach Jason Kidd have for Sacramento?

Fans should expect a monster performance from Luka Doncic as everyone in his home country of Slovenia will be watching thanks to the early tipoff. Fans won’t forget the Mavericks' 51-point destruction of the Clippers last season in an afternoon contest. Luka will be looking for his first triple-double of the season and a bit of revenge on the Kings on Sunday afternoon.
