The Dallas Mavericks only had their mid-level exception and minimum contracts to hand out in free agency this summer. They used the majority of their mid-level to sign JaVale McGee. The seven-footer is an upgrade over Dwight Powell at the five, and he helps solve the Mavs rebounding and rim protection woes.

Head coach Jason Kidd was quick to name McGee the team’s starting center, but fans should not expect too much. He has averaged just under 16 minutes per game in the last three seasons combined. The newest Maverick will be impactful when he is on the floor, but it will be in fewer than 20 minutes per game.

NBA2K23 is gearing up for its release, and fans are starting to get some sneak peeks at this year’s game. The latest face scan leaks dropped on July 29, and McGee was less than happy with his photo.

McGee took to Twitter on Friday to question his look in the photo from the wildly popular video game. Fans can see his comment here, but it was clear that the seven-footer was not thrilled about his look.

NBA2K continues to improve its graphics, and they have virtually nailed every player in the league. McGee was on the unfortunate end of the photo used to showcase his look.

JaVale McGee is an elite roll man, and his numbers should only improve playing next to Luka Doncic.  McGee is a strong rebounder and rim protector that is an upgrade for the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavs are not done building their roster around Luka Doncic. They want a second star and to improve the talent playing off the 23-year-old superstar. Dallas would love to make another move before training camp, but they need to find the right deal. Stay tuned to see if it materializes.
