How will new head coach Jason Kidd use the Dallas Mavericks roster?

Kidd has plenty of options on how to distribute the minutes. His first and biggest question is who does he want to play? Will they start with Kristaps Porzingis at the five? If so, does J-Kidd embrace playing small ball with three wings around Luka Doncic and KP? These are all things to be watching during training camp, which starts with media day on Sept. 27.

The Mavericks are likely to close games playing small with Luka and KP flanked by Dorian Finney-Smith, Reggie Bullock, and Tim Hardaway Jr. because that lineup is the team’s most potent on both ends of the floor. Kidd and his staff have the luxury of depth and play the matchups by using Maxi Kleber or Jalen Brunson in the closing five.

There are a lot of unknowns as the Dallas Mavericks head into training camp this year. They will be looking to install a new defensive scheme with the hopes of vaulting into the top ten on that end of the floor. It will be no easy task, but the Mavs need to finish there to be serious title contenders.
