The Dallas Mavericks have been one of the best teams in the NBA since the calendar flipped to 2022. Superstar Luka Doncic has pushed his way back into the MVP conversation as his team has won 32 of their 44 contests. Their incredible play has them tied for the fifth-best record in the league as we enter the final week of the regular season.

Dallas is not just picking on inferior competition either. They continue to defeat the best teams in the league, including Luka going off for 32 points and 15 assists in Sunday’s win over the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks. The Mavericks are a dangerous team that is white-hot heading into the playoffs.

Hall of Fame point guard Magic Johnson joined ESPN’s Get Up on Monday morning where he discussed the NBA at large heading into the last week of the season. When asked who he thought would win the Western Conference, Johnson gave a surprising answer.

Magic Johnson thinks Dallas Mavericks can win the Western Conference

Magic believes either the Mavs or Grizzlies are going to end up in the NBA Finals. He went on to praise Luka Doncic, Spencer Dinwiddie, Jason Kidd, and the team as a whole. Johnson believes the Mavericks can top any team and win the Western Conference. Hear what the Hall of Famer said below.

Given their recent play, it is difficult to count Dallas out. Against the other five teams in the top six in the West, the Mavericks are 10-8, but that includes losing all three meetings against the Phoenix Suns. They have done better against the East’s top six, including winning at least one game against every team and sweeping the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors.

The Dallas Mavericks are looking to make a deep playoff run this season. Magic Johnson believes Luka Doncic and company can do it. They need to close the season strong to lock up homecourt in the first round and continue their stellar play into the postseason. No fan will want to miss a second of playoff action, so please stay tuned and enjoy the ride.
