Luka Doncic has monster triple-double in return to lift Mavericks over Bulls
By Tyler Watts
The Dallas Mavericks are officially white-hot after defeating the Chicago Bulls 113-99 on Jan. 9. It was the Mavs' sixth straight win and snapped a nine-game winning streak of the Bulls. Defensive improvements have been key, but so has the incredible play of superstar Luka Doncic.
The 22-year-old missed Friday’s win over the Rockets with a sprained right ankle, and he was questionable coming into Sunday’s game. Doncic was given the go-ahead just before tipoff and never looked back.
Luka had 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists in Sunday’s win over the Bulls. He made just eight of his 23 field goal attempts, but his playmaking was key in putting away Chicago. The Mavericks outscored the Bulls by 26 points in Doncic’s 35 minutes on the floor on Jan. 9. Here is a closer look at the game and why the Mavs are proving they are a force.
Luka Doncic triple-double leads Dallas Mavericks over Bulls
Luka produced the monster stat line, but he was far from the only important Maverick in the victory. Six players scored in double-figures, including second-year wing Josh Green, who set a new career-high with 18 points. Dallas dominated the second half to pick up their sixth straight win.
Doncic found Green for a cannot miss alley-oop in the fourth quarter to help put the game away for the Mavericks.
In the last week, the Mavs have beaten the top team in each conference in impressive fashion. Superstar Luka Doncic has his game locked in after missing time with ankle injuries and in the health and safety protocols, and his supporting cast looks ready to lead Dallas on a deep playoff run.
The Dallas Mavericks have a couple of days off before traveling to New York to face the Knicks on Wednesday night. Can they make it seven straight wins? Be sure to tune in and find out.
