The Dallas Mavericks played three straight games without superstar Luka Doncic after the 22-year-old suffered ankle and knee sprains in the team’s win over Denver on Nov. 15. He luckily avoided serious injury after being rolled up on by Nuggets guard Austin Rivers.
Doncic has steadily improved over the week. The team was quick to rule him out ahead of Wednesday’s game, but he was upgraded to doubtful going into of Friday’s contest and again to questionable to face the LA Clippers on Nov. 21 before being ruled following pregame warmups.
The Mavs announced that Luka will return on Tuesday evening as the Mavs and Clippers battle for the second straight game. The 22-year-old will be looking to put on a show to help his team snap their three game losing streak.
Luka Doncic to return vs. Clippers: What should fans expect?
Luka was incredible against the Clippers last regular season as the Mavericks took two of the three games. He had a triple-double, narrowly missed a second, and dropped 42 on LA in the final meeting. Doncic took his game to another level in the playoffs as he averaged 35.7 points, 10.3 assists, and 7.9 rebounds, but the Clippers took the series in seven games.
The only player that had success slowing Luka down is Kawhi Leonard, and he will not play on Tuesday as he recovers from ACL surgery. Head coach Jason Kidd will likely be careful with Luka’s minutes in his first game back, but fans should expect a stellar performance from the 22-year-old superstar in Los Angeles. Doncic will start and should be able to play around 30 minutes on Tuesday night.
Doncic met with reporters following shootaround on Nov. 23 where he said he was still dealing with pain. Expect the Mavs to watch their star closely as they face the Clippers. Dallas needs him on the court, but keeping him healthy for the long haul is their top priority.
The Dallas Mavericks are looking to get back on track after losing three straight. Luka Doncic’s return will be a significant boost to the Mavs, and fans will not want to miss this game, so please tune in and enjoy.
