Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has made three All-Star appearances so far. He started the game in 2020 and 2021 before being a reserve last season. Luka struggled out of the gate as he did not enter the season in peak condition, and that kept him from his third straight start.

Doncic did not have that issue this year. He came out of the gate hot after being named the favorite to win MVP preseason. The 23-year-old is averaging over 30 points per game, and he looks like an unstoppable offensive force.

Luka Doncic deserves to start the 2023 NBA All-Star. The fan voting begins on Dec. 20 and runs through Jan. 21. Supporters help decide the starting five with media and the player votes also factoring in. Fans can sway things, so here is a look at why they should vote for the Mavs superstar.

Why fans need to vote for Luka Doncic to start the 2023 All-Star game: 3. Stats

Luka was leading the league in scoring for most of the first two months of the season before Joel Embiid passed him. Still, Doncic is averaging 32.5 points, 8.6 assists, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. He is shooting a career-high 49.9 percent from the field and averaging the second-fewest turnovers of his career.

Doncic is second in scoring, sixth in assists, and 12th in steals per game on the morning of Dec. 20. He also leads the league with six triple-double and is the best shot creator in the world.

It is a deep field in the Western Conference backcourt with Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, Devin Booker, Ja Morant, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander deserving consideration, but no player in that group can match Luka’s stat line. Doncic deserves one of the two spots on every fan's ballot, and the advanced metrics further prove that.
