The Dallas Mavericks dominated the Houston Rockets on March 11 behind a 30-point double-double from superstar Luka Doncic. The 23-year-old grabbed 14 rebounds, hit five 3-pointers, and was virtually unstoppable on Friday night. Doncic is playing the best basketball of his career as the Mavs surge towards the postseason, and Luka gains momentum in the award races.

Dallas has won six of their last seven games, and at 24-8, they have one of the league’s best records since the calendar flipped to 2022. The Mavs currently sit fifth in the Western Conference just a half-game behind the fourth-place Jazz, and 3.5 games up on the Timberwolves for seventh with 15 games remaining.

Luka Doncic and the Mavericks are on course to make the playoffs for the third straight year, but what are the team’s goals over the final 15 games. The 23-year-old explained after Friday’s win over the Rockets.

Luka Doncic discusses the Dallas Mavericks goals heading into the playoffs

Luka did not have homecourt in either series against the Clippers, but they are hoping to earn it down the stretch. The 23-year-old does not want to face another potential game seven on the road as the Mavericks attempt to win their first playoff series since 2011. Fans can see Doncic’s full quote on the team’s goals below.

"Just to get at least to the fourth place. That’s our goal to have home advantage. Other than that, just play basketball. Like I said, everybody knows their role. We’ve got to improve our defense a little bit more and our offense, but that is going to come with playing games and playing hard, and that’s what we’ve got to do for the next however many games we have left."

The Mavericks and Jazz face off again on March 27, and Dallas has a difficult slate of games ahead of that meeting. Luka and company need to take care of business if they want to move up into fourth over the final 15 regular-season contests.

The Mavs face the Celtics, Nets, and Sixers over their next three games, which will be three difficult tests. Can Luka Doncic stay hot over the final 15 games and lift Dallas into the top four? Fans can bet he is going to try, and they won’t want to miss a second of the action.
