Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is the hottest player in the NBA right now. He has scored 50-plus in three of his last five games, and he is averaging 42.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, 10.2 assists, and 2.5 steals over the team’s six-game win streak. Luka has been unstoppable all season, but he is making his MVP case as the Mavericks keep winning without three key rotation players.

Luka Doncic won his second straight Western Conference Player of the Week honors on Jan. 2. Former Mavericks Kristaps Porzingis won in the East as the Mavericks went 3-0 over the last seven days with Doncic averaging 48-point triple-double. This week included two 50-point games, including the never before done 60-point 20-rebound triple-double.

It is Luka’s second consecutive Player of the Week honor and the ninth of his career. Here is a look back at the three games before diving into what is ahead for number 77 and the Mavericks.

Doncic scored 146 points, grabbed 39 rebounds, and dished out 32 assists over the three games as he became the first player in NBA history to amass those totals over any three-game stretch.

It started with the 60-point game against the Knicks, which was the most points scored in a game in Mavericks history. Doncic went for a 35-point triple-double against the Rockets in the next game before scoring 51 points in a victory over the Spurs. Luka has been white hot, and he is doing all right now with the Mavericks shorthanded.

The schedule stiffens to begin the new year. They face the Rockets in Houston on Monday before hosting the Celtics and Pelicans, who have two of the five best records in the league. Dallas goes on a five-game road trip following Saturday’s game at the American Airlines Center.

Can Luka Doncic stay hot? He has won two straight Player of the Week honors, and fans know the best is still yet to come, so stay tuned for all the latest.
