Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic may be viewed as the best player in the NBA by season’s end. He already has three All-Star appearances and three first-team All-NBA honors under his belt. Number 77 stated his case for best player as he pushed the Mavs to the conference finals last season, and the 23-year-old just keeps improving.
Doncic enters the season as the favorite to win MVP over reigning two-time winner Nikola Jokic and the rest of the field. Expect Luka to put up monster numbers, but winning could hinge on his team’s success. The Mavs will have to be back in the top four in the Western Conference for Doncic to win his first NBA MVP honors.
Luka Doncic gets the respect he deserves in Bleacher Report’s guard rankings
Luka ranked number one again over Stephen Curry, Ja Morant, Trae Young, and Devin Booker. FanSided’s 25-under-25 did not agree as they ranked Morant over Doncic after two straight years of the Mavericks superstar leading their list. It is difficult to argue against number 77 being the best guard in the NBA right now.
Where will Luka rank in Bleacher Report’s top 100 players? Fans will have to wait until Oct. 14 to find out, but he was third in ESPN’s NBArank behind only Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jokic. Expect him to be in the top five, but can the 23-year-old claim the top spot? Both Giannis and the Joker have won two MVP awards and are still in their primes, but do not bet against Luka passing them this season.
Luka Doncic is the consensus best guard in the NBA. His otherworldly passing ability immediately jumps off the screen, and the 23-year-old is one of the best scorers in the league. What can he do next? Be sure to tune in and find out this season.
