The Dallas Mavericks reached the conference finals as Luka Doncic once again took his game to another level in the playoffs. The 23-year-old superstar averaged 31.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists as Dallas knocked out the Jazz and Suns before falling to the eventual champion Warriors in the conference finals.

Doncic made his case for the NBA's best player this postseason, but there is plenty of competition. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and reigning two-time MVP Nikola Jokic all have cases for the world’s best right now.

Even the point guard position alone is a tight battle. The position has arguably never been stronger with Curry leading the Warriors to the fourth championship in eight years. Doncic leads a cast of young talents chasing the all-time great. HoopsHype took on the task of ranking the best point guards for the 2022-2023 season, and here is a look at where Luka landed.

Doncic topped the list after his incredible playoff performance and fourth straight year of historic production. The 23-year-old edged Stephen Curry, who is 34 years old and is likely to only play 60 to 65 regular season games next season. Ja Morant and Trae Young rounded out the top four to make it three players under 24.

Doncic deserves the top spot, despite Curry’s championships. Luka is the best shot creator in the league, and he is walking triple-double. Head coach Jason Kidd got him to buy in on the defensive end, and the 23-year-old just keeps getting better. Fans should expect the best version yet when he returns to Dallas for his fifth NBA season.

Luka Doncic is staying busy this offseason. He already played in two World Cup qualifiers after the Dallas Mavericks were knocked out in the conference finals. Doncic has two more to go plus the EuroBasket championship in September. Stay tuned for all the latest Luka content at The Smoking Cuban.
