Luka Doncic working on secret new move: Showcases hook shot but not the first time

Since Cuban made the comments, fans and experts alike have been searching for his new move. Doncic has been busy this summer playing for the Slovenian National Team, so there are plenty of tapes to dissect. He busted out a few running hook shots, including this beauty against Sweden in World Cup qualifying.

He used that running skyhook again when they faced Serbia in a wild friendly on Aug. 17. Everyone was quick to jump to say that is Luka’s new move, but here is a clip from January against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Doncic took nine hook shots last regular season per NBA Stats, and he made six. Most of them came off post-ups where he would just bully his defender into the paint and nail a hook shot over them, but Luka was two for three on running hook shots before nailing four of four in the postseason. Number 77 already had the running hook shot in his bag of tricks, but he was not using it much.

Could it become a larger part of his game? Yes, but there is something new and crazier that Luka Doncic has talked about adding to his game that could make him completely unstoppable. Here is a look at the potential game-changer.
