The Dallas Mavericks dominated the Houston Rockets 129-114 on Thursday night behind a 35-point triple-double from Luka Doncic. The 23-year-old superstar had a 60-point triple-double last time out, and he continued his hot streak by securing a second straight with nearly 17 minutes remaining in the contest.

The Mavericks were shorthanded on Thursday night as Dorian Finney-Smith, Reggie Bullock, Maxi Kleber, and Josh Green all were sidelined against the Rockets, but it did not matter. Luka stayed hot and the Mavericks shot the ball well on their way to dominating performance for their fifth straight win.

It was not quite a 60-point triple-double, but Doncic had another incredible performance on Dec. 29. He was making plays all over the court, including on the defensive end as he led the Mavericks over the Rockets. Here is a closer look at his performance before diving into what is ahead for Doncic and his team.

Luka Doncic has another extraordinary night as Dallas Mavericks dominate the Rockets

Luka was locked in from the opening tipoff on Thursday night. He had 14 points and two blocks in the first 12 minutes of action. Doncic pushed his stat line to 21 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds by halftime with his magical buzzer-beating triple.

Luka became just the fourth player since 1997 to have at least three 20-7-7 halves on Thursday night, but he was far from done. Doncic locked up his league-leading eighth triple-double midway through the third quarter on his way to 35 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists, one steal, and two blocks in 34 minutes of action. Luka made 11 of 21 field goals, including four 3-pointers as the Mavericks outscored the Rockets by 19 with number 77 on the floor.

His passing was outstanding on Thursday night. Dallas got out and ran more against the Rockets, and Doncic was playing quarterback on those deep passes. See one of his beauties below.

It was his fourth straight 30-point game and his second straight impressive performance against the Rockets. Doncic went for 50 points in Houston on Dec. 23, and the two teams match up again on Monday night. Expect Luka to off again as the Mavericks look to continue building momentum.

The only sour note of the night was Doncic picking up his eighth technical foul of the season after arguing a no-call by the referees where Luka suffered a cut on his face. Number 77 had a valid argument, but he needs to avoid picking up technical fouls as he is already halfway to a one-game suspension with just 36 games in the books.

The Dallas Mavericks travel to San Antonio to face the Spurs on New Year’s Eve. It is the start of a two-game Texas road trip where Luka Doncic and company will be eager to run their winning streak to seven straight games. Fans don’t want to miss one second of the action right now as number 77 is playing out of his mind. Be sure to tune in on Saturday night and enjoy the show.
