The Dallas Mavericks are gearing up for another season. Superstar Luka Doncic is ready to lead the team on another deep playoff run. He had a long summer of basketball with the Slovenian National Team, and the 23-year-old is in midseason form already as he looks to secure his first NBA MVP honors.

With the regular season on the horizon, it is ranking time. ESPN had Luka third in their countdown with Spencer Dinwiddie and Christian Wood both cracking the top 100. It was surprising to see Dorian Finney-Smith not mentioned, and Tim Hardaway Jr. will look to get back on the list with a healthier and more productive year.

Bleacher Report released its top 100 on Oct. 14, and they had the same three Mavs on their list, but where did they fall?

Spencer Dinwiddie was 88th, which seemed a bit low for the talented guard. He has averaged over 20 points per game for an entire season, and he and D’Angelo Russell led Brooklyn to the playoffs in 2020. Dinwiddie is a top-75 player in the league.

Christian Wood ranked 83rd, and he has a ton to prove this season. The 6’10 forward has put numbers but has never played in the postseason. Can Wood prove he can contribute to a winning team? Does he still average 19 points and ten rebounds per game? Those are questions he has to answer this season.

Luka checked in third in Bleacher Report’s ranks behind Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic. Both are two-time MVPs, so it is difficult to argue the case for the Mavericks superstar. His postseason last year made a statement, and number 77 will look to build on that this season.

Doncic could prove he is the league’s best player by winning MVP and taking the Mavericks on another deep playoff run. Is the 23-year-old up to the task? Be sure to tune in to find out.
